Me First: A Surprising Truth about Leadership, with Mike Palanski, Ph.D.

Episode 44. "If you're not willing to do the hard work of looking inside, you shouldn't be out in front of people. You shouldn't be beside them, you shouldn't be behind them. You shouldn't be leading them in any way."  Mike Palanski

Mike Palanski has always been fascinated with leadership. As a Professor of Management at the Saunders College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY, Mike has coached hundreds of leaders in RIT’s Executive MBA program and worked with students and professionals in Ireland, Croatia, Hungary, and China.  Mike teaches courses in leadership, business ethics, and cross-cultural management.

Following in the footsteps of his entrepreneurial parents, in 2020 he founded his leadership development practice, Mpower2Lead, because he was tired of seeing really great people spend a ton of money on crappy, pseudo-science leader development programs, and he knew he could do better.

Mike's forthcoming book is The Me1st Method: A Leader's Guide to Finding, Facing, and Embracing Your Next Big Challenge.

Linda and Mike discuss:
-the definition(s) of leadership
-the surprising thing you need to focus on to develop your own leadership
-what Mike learned from a Parisian hotel employee
-how not everyone experiences the same NFL
